CAMP SHALOM 2017 – "A JOURNEY TO ISRAEL"

We’re so excited about summer time at Camp Shalom 2017! We are already planning a lot of new activities and field trips, our cook is creating the menu, and we are coming up with plenty of ways to get our campers moving and having fun together. Returning this year are Jamie Smartt, Director and Susan Mandlebaum, Assistant Director, along with other senior and junior counselors.

This year, we will meet at the Hebrew Congregation for two, one week sessions. Session One will be held from Monday, July 3 through Friday, July 7, & session Two will run from Monday, July 10 through Friday, July 14! Camp days begin at 9:00 am, and campers will be ready for pick up at 3:30 pm.

Each morning, everyone will begin together as a community, and then our campers will have time in their own bunks doing the days planned activities. The campers will come together for whole camp challenges and activities, as well as for our meals and field trips.

A few years ago, we piloted two very successful programs that will be carried over into this year.  The first is an afternoon tracks session, in which campers choose one track—e.g. Arts and Crafts, Games, Building—per week in which to participate. The second is a Camp Shalom “PJ Library” time for our littlest campers.  During this time, the campers participate in stories, songs, and arts and crafts. Back again to this year, we will have music time with Leslie Jacobs and we will be bringing “PJ Our Way” programming to our older campers.
